Prof. Faris Al-Fadhat, Ph.D
Faris Al-Fadhat is a Professor of Political Economy and currently serves as a Vice-Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. He received his Ph.D. in politics and international studies from Murdoch University, Australia, and Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Department of Public Administration, Korea University. Previously he has been a visiting scholar in the Graduate School of Global Studies, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, The Japan Foundation, and the Asia Research Centre, Murdoch University. His research interests revolve around international political economy issues, especially those related to regional economic governance, contestation in East and Southeast Asia, and the role of corporate actors and capitalist transformation. His articles have appeared in such journals as Journal of Contemporary Asia, Asian Affairs, East Asia, Australian Journal of International Affairs, Journal of Asian and African Studies, and Journal of Forest Economics. He is the author of The Rise of International Capital: Indonesian Conglomerates in ASEAN which is published by Palgrave Macmillan.
